Alvarez Regent acoustic guitar- model RD 20 S. very nice shape, mahogany back and sides. very light standard wear. the one issue it has is on the low ‘e’ string it frets out on the 15th fret and probably needs a fret shaved a bit. a new set of strings may help as well. the guitar comes with a brand new gig bag. nice guitar for the price.

Overall, the guitar is clean and in good condiiton. There is one rather large scuff on the side of the lower bout which is only cosmetic and does not affect the sound. There are a few minor marks and scratches here and there, but the guitar still looks good. The sound is rich and full. It has that familiar Alvarez tone: well balanced and mellow.

The RD12VP Starter Pack includes the RD12 6-string acoustic guitar; a great sounding dreadnought with a spruce top and mahogany back and sides, classic tone woods that generate a warm and well-balanced tone. The pack also includes everything else you need to get started and keep going, such as an Alvarez padded gig bag, electronic tuner, strap, picks, string winder and a spare set of strings.

Alvarez have made the neck profile on Regent Series a little finer so they’re easier to play and every model is constructed using a dovetail neck joint that optimizes the transfer of energy between the neck and body.

All Regent Series instruments are fitted with the Alvarez bi-level bridge to carry more vibration to the top, which improves tone and resonance, and the PPS saddle and nut help to improve response and sustain.

This instrument has been finished using an electrostatic painting process for a more even finish that uses less paint in its application. This allows the guitar to sing a little more and it also looks fantastic.

Premium die cast tuners deliver tuning stability.

Vintage 1977 Alvarez Yairi Dy-77 Herringbone Guitar (“lawsuit” Martin D28 Style)

Beautiful 1977 Alvarez Yairi DY-77 (herringbone) acoustic guitar made in Japan. This is one of the “lawsuit” Martin D-28 style models made by Kazuo Yairi in the mid-1970s. Solid spruce top with rosewood back and sides, herringbone inlay around the sound hole and herringbone/maple binding, ebony fretboard, ebony bridge, bone nut, bone saddle, new ebony/MOP (pearl) dot bridge pins and end strap button, original Grover bulls-eye tuners (one replaced), new strings, professionally inspected and set-up.

There is zero fretboard wear (no pitting of any kind), and very little wear on the first three frets. This is a very clean guitar with one small repaired top crack that is visible just below the fretboard under the low E-string. My luthier (a certified Martin repair shop) repaired and stabilized the crack. There are only a few very small dings and several minor indentations on the back. There are no buckle marks on the back of the guitar and no pick marks on the front. The neck is straight and the saddle is solid and not split or cracked. Overall the guitar is in excellent condition. String height is very comfortable and set to medium-low action. The guitar plays in tune all the way up the neck with no buzzing. I’m happy to provide additional photos on request.

These older Yairi’s are consistently great guitars that competed well against Martin guitars made during the same era. This DY-77 is no exception and has the warm, rich tone that one expects from a vintage acoustic instrument. This guitar plays very well, has correct intonation, and most importantly, it sounds great! I own a Collings and several Martins and am still amazed by the tonality, balance, and wonderful playability of these older Yairis.

This is a great acoustic guitar that is set up and ready to play. Comes with the original Alvarez Yairi hard shell case in good condition. There are no broken latches and no broken or peeling plastic areas on the case.
